Damping Ring Design for NLC at 180 Hz Repetition Rate November 2000
نویسنده
چکیده
An increase of the NLC repetition rate from 120 Hz to 180 Hz while keeping other interaction point parameters unchanged will require changes in the design of the damping rings to provide an increased damping rate. In this note, we describe an initial lattice design for a ring that provides the required damping at 90 Hz. Two such rings, operated in series or in parallel, would provide the required damping for a 180 Hz repetition rate. Improved Dynamics in the 180 Hz NLC Damping Rings
Adding a field gradient to the main dipoles for the NLC Main Damping Ring lattice has leads to significant improvements in the dynamic behavior of particles in the lattice. We describe the properties of the new lattice, including some initial estimates of alignment tolerances required to achieve the desired vertical emittance. We analyze here possibility for increase of repetition rate for the Next Linear Collider with SC structures up to 50 Hz simultaneously with decreasing the bunch train length. SC structure operating at SLAC frequency 2856 MHz and Tesla-type structures operating at 1300 MHz discussed here. We did not find any technical restrictions for realization of this transferring. Advantages are in relaxed p...
متن کاملUpdate to the NLC Injector System Design*
The Next Linear Collider (NLC) Injector System is designed to produce low emittance 8 GeV electron and positron beams at 120 hertz for injection into the NLC main linacs. Each beam consists of a 265 ns train of bunches (190 bunches spaced by 1.4 ns or 95 bunches spaced by 2.8 ns); each bunch has a population of up to 1.6x10 particles for 2.8 ns (or 0.8x10 particles for 1.4 ns). Horizontal and v...
متن کاملLow-Level RF System Design for the Next Linear Collider Damping Ring
The design current for the Next Linear Collider (NLC) damping rings is an order of magnitude higher than existing damping rings. As opposed to storage rings, damping rings are required to operate at a high repetition frequency. Transient beam loading is therefore particularly severe. The NLC design [1] calls for a full current fill pattern consisting of up to 4 trains of 90 bunches for a total ...
متن کاملElectron Cloud Effect in Damping Rings of Linear Colliders
Design of Linear Collider projects are in progress as a world wide collaboration. There are two possibility for the linear collider scheme: one is normal conducting cavity with X/C band power source, and another is superconducting cavity with L band power source. A positron damping ring storages positron beam during several damping time and extracts the beam with a very low emittance to a main ...
